Bone Analog for Validation of Medical Image-Based Analysis and Mechanical Testing of Long Bones

The goal of this project is to design and fabricate a bone analogue which replicates bending stiffness in nondestructive mechanical testing, specifically in three and four-point bending experiments. An analogue can provide a consistent and reproducible testing calibration, ultimately validating analytical and mechanical testing methods and reducing required sample sizes. Such a long bone analog would allow for the validation of image-based analysis and testing methods while reducing the costs of typical bone testing.
